A couple of new Beatles items of interest…

Yeah Yeah Yeah by Nick Churchill

Yeah Yeah Yeah by Nick Churchill

There are a couple of Beatles items I wanted to let everyone know about that you might be interested in. First off, there is a book coming out by Nick Churchill titled Yeah Yeah Yeah: The Beatles & Bournemouth. It establishes the many and varied (not to say unexpected) links between The Beatles and Bournemouth, a small town on the southern coast of England. The book has over 100 rare and some previously unseen photos and many interviews. It becomes available on September 22, 2011. For more info, check its entry on the publishers website here.

You may also be interested in some fantastic photographs of The Beatles that have been organized into an exhibition by the French Gallery, Photo12.com. These are photos that were originally taken by The Daily Mirror in the 1960′s. It is now available for online viewing here.

Thanks for reading!

Happy Nat, interviewed by Jude Southerland Kessler

Happy Nat

Over in the Interviews section of the TheBeatlesRarity.com, there are two interviews of Jude Southerland Kessler, author of Shoulda Been There and Shivering Inside, the first two books of a fascinating and incredibly informative ongoing John Lennon biographical series. You can learn more about these books by checking out the interviews and also visiting her website at OnTheRockBooks.com.

Recently the tables have turned, and through the magic of the Internet, Jude has actually interviewed me! Why, you might ask would she want to interview me (at least that’s what I was wondering)? Well, on her website, she has a section called Meet The Beatles Fans, where she has interviewed a few people that are Beatles fans and that have read her books. And now she’s nabbed me. There won’t be a quiz later or anything, but if you want to check it out, just click here.

Congratulations Paul & Nancy!

Paul McCartney & Nancy Shevell

The rumor has been out for a few days now, but it has been confirmed. Paul McCartney is engaged to Nancy Shevell. The couple has been together since 2007 and since then there has been much speculation about marriage plans amongst the media, but this is the real deal this time. The highest order of congratulations go out to Paul and Nancy from TheBeatlesRarity.com!

‘The Family Way’ returns in July

Family Way

The upcoming McCartney/McCartney II reissues and Buddy Holly tribute CD are not the only Paul-related items making it to your favorite music store this summer. The original soundtrack to the film The Family Way was composed by McCartney in 1966, and recorded by Paul, with a few studio musicians and the George Martin Orchestra, for release in 1967. On July 26th, 2011 it will be re-issued. It received an earlier re-issue in 2003 but this is a sonically improved upgrade reproduced from the original mono remaster and will also will include a bonus track in the form of a previously unreleased stereo mix of A Theme From The Family Way, which appeared as the b-side of a 1966 UK/US 7-inch single by the Tudor Minstrels.

The Family Way LP holds the distinction of being the first non-Beatles release that was actually by one of The Beatles. It really doesn’t count as a solo-Beatles effort because it was accredited to the George Martin Orchestra. In the US it was released on June 12, 1967, less than two weeks after the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album made it’s first appearance. US first pressings of the record have since become quite rare.

The Family Way score shows a very interesting side of McCartney’s songwriting style at the time. The original album has no track titles for any of its 13 tracks, as all are variations on either the film’s theme or the song Love in the Open Air.

‘Rave On Buddy Holly’ w/Paul McCartney – out in June

A new Buddy Holly tribute album honoring what would have been his 75th birthday (Sep. 7), will be released on June 28th, that features an all-star rock and roll line up of artists My Morning Jacket, The Black Keys, Modest Mouse, Nick Lowe, Florence + The Machine, Cee Lo Green, Kid Rock, Lou Reed, Patti Smith and (you guessed it!) Paul McCartney, among others.

This will not be the first time Paul has participated in a program to honor this rock and roll legend. In 1987 he narrated the documentary The Real Buddy Holly Story, speaking of Buddy’s influence on his entire music career. Also appearing on that film were Keith Richards, Phil and Don Everly, Sonny Curtis and Jerry Allison. Paul performs Buddy’s classic It’s So Easy on the new CD.

Free Job Search Site for Beatles Fans is ready for business…

Beatles Button

AllYouNeedProject.org, a new website designed to help Beatles fans find jobs and to help Beatles fans employers locate great employees, is up and ready for business. Created and donated by BeatlesNews, the website is free to any Beatles fan who would like to post a confidential resume, or network with other fans who might know of available jobs across the United States…or overseas!

Sponsored by Jude and Rande Kessler of OnTheRockbooks.com, Joe Johnson’s Beatles Brunch, TheBeatlesRarity.com, and BeatlesNews, the initiative is just one way of reaching out to help those who are looking for employment in the Beatles community.

“The site is completely safe and confidential,” explained website guru, Dave Haber, the owner of BeatlesNews. “Prospective employees’ private information will not be available for general viewing. However, employers will be given a way to get in touch with job-seekers whose resumes are of interest to them. Those job seekers’ general qualifications and the regions in which they want to live and work will be posted on the site to interest and intrigue possible employers. Additional contacts will be made directly, employee to employer.”

Furthermore, Lennon biographer, Jude Kessler, will be tweeting about the registered job seekers each day, letting her readers know about Beatles fans who are ready to go back to work. “I’ve already been able to connect one Beatle fan with a potential job in the Beatles world,” Kessler commented. “And the more prospective employees that register, the more employers will seek out our site.”

There is no fee for registration on AllYouNeedProject.org, and the site is extremely user-friendly. “It is just one way for the Beatles community to show love in action,” Kessler said. “We all sing ‘love is all you need,’ but this is one way to live those lyrics out. We urge Beatles community employers to glance at the site once a week, and we urge those who are looking for work to take advantage of this free networking opportunity.”

Joe Johnson of Beatles Brunch has graciously agreed to advertise the site on his weekly radio show and in his newsletter, and Happy Nat of TheBeatlesRarity.com has also agreed to provide free publicity for the job seekers. “We all want to pitch in and help,” Johnson stated. “Beatles people helping Beatles people. That’s what this is all about.”

Although the unemployment rate has dropped a bit lately, there are still many Beatles fans out there without jobs. Kessler and her husband experienced this first-hand in 2010. “Without the help of a long-time family friend,“ Rande Kessler commented, “we would have waited much longer to find the right career opportunity. We were really blessed to have a friend assist us. Now we want to pay it forward.”
