I have been fascinated by the work of The Beatles for a long time. I have been collecting recordings by them since 1976 which is longer than I have been an adult. Over the years my interests grew beyond the official recordings, and also from group efforts to solo-Beatle projects, and from collectible vinyl to CDs and video media. I even started collecting material by other artists that had one or more of The Beatles contributions as supporting musicians. What I really wanted to do was to get everything they ever did musically, but the more I collected and the more I learned, the more I realized what a nearly impossible endeavor this would be. So I do not claim to have everything; maybe everything that I am aware of, but not everything. Whenever I become privy to something I don’t have, I do what I can to get it, and into this listing it goes. Each week, on Monday, I pull out one of the rarities from the list for you to hear.

Beatles Rarity Of The Week – “I’m Happy Just To Dance With You” BBC performance, 1964

Welcome to the Beatles Rarity Of The Week. A short while back I had a BROW request for a live Beatles performance of “I’m Happy Just To Dance With You.” I love to get requests for a number of reasons. It lets me know that people are actually out there that are tuning in with [...]

Beatles Rarity Of The Week – “Soily” live in Newcastle, U.K., 1973

This week BROW looks back at the early days of Paul McCartney & Wings. Paul chose to limit his band’s live performances to his home continent during these years and play smaller venues such as universities and town halls, allowing time to “build up” Wings and make a name for themselves by getting at least [...]

#9 Dream – 1974 John Lennon promo video

John Lennon wrote “#9 Dream” after being inspired by a dream he had in which he heard the repeated phrase “Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé.” John never claimed to know what it meant, but used it as a repeated chorus line in the song. John had also recently worked with Harry Nilsson on his Pussy Cats [...]

Natalie Portman/Johnny Depp sign errors in “My Valentine” Paul McCartney video

According to authorities in an unnamed deaf-led organization, Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman have used incorrect sign language gestures in Paul McCartney’s latest music video for his recent single “My Valentine” extracted from his Kisses On The Bottom album. Paul recruited the Hollywood stars to portray in sign language the lyrics to the song in [...]
