Happy 69th tomorrow for Paul McCartney! For this week’s video feature I’m serving up the opening segment of the James Paul McCartney television special that aired on April 16, 1973. The idea of the one hour ABC broadcast was to promote the new Wings single My Love and the Red Rose Speedway album. Not only did Big Barn Bed open the television special but it opened the LP as well. The filmed performance was recorded around February or March 1973 with the latest Wings line-up: Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Henry McCullough and Denny Seiwell. Big Barn Bed was actually first recorded on the earlier Ram sessions of 1971 and a small part of it can be heard at the ending of the track Ram On on that album.
