Only Love Remains – promo video (1986)

Pictures sleeve for Paul McCartney's Only Love Remains single, 1986This week’s VOW is related to the BROW from earlier this week. As a promotion for his newest album Press To Play, Paul filmed a promo video in November, 1986 at Pinewood Studios in Buckingham, UK where he performed Only Love Remains before a small audience. Singing backing vocals with Linda McCartney here is Judith Light from the television show Who’s the Boss. A few days later Paul performed this song at London’s Theatre Royale for the Royal Variety Show.

I love this song, I was working at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, on 42nd Street, but was unaware that Paul would be performing at the Royal Variety Performance, so I didn't go, gutted, I had a back stage pass!!

Simon, it is truly a great song. What an opportunity you missed out on! I'm not sure there'll be another chance to see him perform this one but hopefully you can make up for that somewhere down the line. Happy Thanksgiving!

The minimalist approach really works here. Thanks!

this is the "ESSANCE OF PAUL" heart Precious energy! why I luv him soo gracefully. these are the songs, that makes us love him sooo. such, deep heart felt "Lyrics" that melt the heart of those who understand "ALL BEAUTY" graciousness, and cherishment of the heart. is why were in a buisness like this. to heal, the masses, so they can move foreward, in love, peace and understanding love, and comfort, holding hands across the land! luv Maccalinda thank you for allowing me to see this video! Lovely Lady Linda too, awe geeze. and I have always loved Judith Light! I am amazed at the love here!

I love the simplicity of the song; piano, voice, sax. Great. Boy, did I have a crush on Angela in Who's The Boss years ago.

Thanks, I loved seeing that clip. Like I said on Monday, there were brilliant songs on Press to play, they are just mired in 80's pop sounds. Hearing a simple, clean sounding recording truly brings the level of song craft to the fore. Let's start a campaign to get a "Press to Play Naked" released, or not.

Not sure why but I appreciate this album much more now than I did when it was new.
