The Fest For Beatles Fans 2010 – A few minutes with Denny Laine

The Fest for Beatles Fans this year was beyond incredible. The guests, the concerts, the auctions, and everything ‘Beatle’ that was happening throughout the Hyatt in Rosemont IL was magical. The special guests included Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell, Laurence Juber, Chris O’Dell, Gary Wright, Mark Hudson as well as Liverpool (the best Beatles tribute band I’ve ever heard).

While there, I had an opportunity to do a short interview with Denny Laine for Beatle Ed’s Fab Four Radio and decided I’d share it here for fans that are interested. He mentions that he has a new CD coming out this month called Valley Of Dreams. Over the next day or two, I will share a few other interviews from the Fest made be myself or my good friend Judith Kristen (author of A Date With A Beatle) so stay tuned.

DENNY LAINE is a musical legend. He was a founding member of Wings (with Paul & Linda) in 1971 and remained a core part of the band until it broke up in 1980. Denny co-wrote Paul’s biggest solo hit in the UK – Mull of Kintyre. Denny, also a founding member of the Moody Blues, burst onto the scene in 1965 with his bluesy rock vocals on Go Now. Denny has a new CD called Storyteller.

Funny, I've recently been digging the Japanese Tears album a lot.
I would sure love to see Denny and Paul together again. I bet you had fun at festival.

It was incredible! I stayed happily very busy because there is SO MUCH to do. I am still catching up on my sleep. Chicago is a blast even if there is no Beatle Fest in town but combine those two things and I'm in a dangerously happy state of frazzle.

Did you catch Terri Hemmert at all? It's been years since I lived in Chicago but she was always great on XRT and such a huge Beatle fan.

Yes I did! She was great and very well-loved by all. I didn't get a chance to interview her though because she was very busy interviewing everyone else. She did her interviews on stage for benefit of the audience and I could tell she was very knowledgeable by the questions she asked.

I heard a great Denny Laine cover of the song "Rave On," the other day. I always dug him as a Wing and I would enjoy reading a book penned by him. Thanks for sharing.

Denny has an entire album of Buddy Holly covers called Holly Days you might want to check out. The CD is out of print, but I saw a few used vinyls of it for sale on Amazon.

Oh great, I'll check it out. I still have one of the things that plays vinyl.
