Morse the Moose is a bit annoying to me and my vote for most rocking Wings song is probably Beware My Love (from Speed Of Sound). I love Cafe On the Left Bank though (it’s so damn catchy). And I also dig the song (and video with Victor Spinetti from AHDN, Help and MMT films) of the song London Town. And yes! Not a dull moment on the Egg album. Good Stuff!

@Older Elliott: Those two songs you mentioned are part of the “really good” songs I was referring to. I also like “I’m Carrying” I think because it’s a song that I wish I could write and play. “I’ve Had Enough” and, depending on which version you have, “Mull of Kintyre” is a fantastic song. I’ll sometimes get caught having that turned up WAY loud on the stereo when someone comes home.

I have been a long devoted fan to Back to the Egg. In fact I could never understand why it is so maligned. I don’t think there is a dull moment on the entire record and I love Denny’s contributions as much as Paul’s. Spin it On is as hard rocking as Paul has gotten (Angry on Press to Play comes pretty close though.)
This week I have been digging into London Town. It is growing on me, but I can still see why the younger Elliott was unimpressed. I am digging Morse the Moose and Cafe on the Left Bank in particular.

I am a Back to the Egg fanatic. I never got into London Town or Wings at the Speed of Sound though I had them both on vinyl as a kid. So I have recently burned new copies of each to listen to while heading to work in the morning. I guess it is a strange psychological quirk. I have a complete Richard Brautigan collection. His writings had a tremendous impact on me and renewed my love of literature when I was 18. But, even with several copies in my collection, I refuse to read his first novel A Confederate General from Big Sur. I guess the logic is that since there is a finite amount of Brautigan available, I want to keep one for the(ever promising) future. But I am beginning to realize I’m crazy. So it is time for London Town at the Speed of Sound.

I like this version quite a bit. I, too, have always like London Town and Back To The Egg. For me, LT has four or five “really good” songs and on BttE, I’d go as high as ten.

I know what you mean. Both are good albums in my book too. I like to count how many times Paul uses the word “ordinary” in the lyrics on the “London Town” album. I pick up on weird things like this. Another example is Rush’s album “Hold Your Fire”. The word “instinct” occurs countless times.

Always liked this song. London Town and Back to Egg are my favorite Wings albums — I know I am in the minority.
