Long live Eppy! What unbelievable luck the boys had to find two such classy and talented gents as Brian Epstein and George Martin. Brian deserves to be in the Hall of Fame... and it's absolutely shameful that he has never even been nominated!

I know that his role was diminished as time went on, but still I don't really hear him getting the credit for giving them their start. Nor do I hear his name mentioned in connection with the whole Mersey sound and the stable of talent he had. It could very well be that by the time the 3rd album was made that they realized the importance of George Martin and their own talents.

I seem to remember him being spoken of fondly in the Beatles Anthology documentary. Although they are also quick to point out that his function in the later months (post touring) was diminishing.

One of my daughter's favorite Beatles songs. When she went to college a couple of years ago I made her a DVD full of pictures of the family and set it to this song. I'm not sure she ever got homesick enough to look at it, but that's a different story.

On a different note, seeing the clips of Brian makes me ask this question: He's certainly been shrugged off by the "official press" (think Rock & Roll HoF, for instance) but it also seems like the Beatles themselves shrugged him off. You rarely hear his name mentioned. I'd be curious to hear why the group thinks that is?
