I miss the Hudson days. I believe he brought out the very best in Ringo. Sure all of the productions were retro, Beatle sounding, but their work together was magical power pop. I think Liverpool 8 and Y Not have suffered for lack of a stronger producer. I know Dave Stewart worked on 8, but somehow he didn’t leave a strong enough mark (oh, terrible pun.)
This is a terrific version of this song. Happy to see it, I may now go buy the DVD, I was reluctant before.

It’s tough on drums but I have seen him do it on some tracks include Boys, Liverpool 8, and I Wanna Be Your Man. He prefers to stay up front for Yellow Submarine, Octopus’s Garden and With A Little Help From My Friends. He does a short bit of piano on the beginning of Don’t Pass Me By.

I’ve only seen Ringo in concert once – or was it twice – but either way it seems that whenever I see him on TV, video, etc., he doesn’t sing and play at the same time. Any idea why?
