Hey, the big question about Paul in this video is did he fix his broken tooth at this point or was it still chipped, like in the Rain/Paperback Writer videos?

Cara, my info is that he had the surgery done just before this tour started. This gig was actually the first date of the tour.

Nice interview. Paul is always so positive and charming. And I think his hair looks a bit shaggier than '64 (though nowhere near as shaggy as the other 3). I love how John messes up the first chorus. He was famous for mucking up the words.

Yeah, I caught that too. John did do that a lot. Especially on Help!

I just found a great new McCartney interview on the BBC.

He seems very natural and engaged with the reporter.

Meat free Mondays
Liverpool
Britain's Election
Technology
Shopping for nails

Wonderful stuff. I haven't seen much video of them from '66, when they seemed to be performing live less frequently. I've never seen any video from this concert before.
Love that '66 hair. Real pop star stuff.

I have always been wary of Beatles live clips - but this was revelatory. In the best conditions that type of harmony singing is difficult, but to be able to sing close harmony on a rickety stage, with a lousy PA and a deafening audience is close to impossible.

Did anyone think that Paul looked like he was the McCartney from the first US tour? Perhaps he had just had a haircut, but John and George had the shaggy '66 hair, while Paul's seemed a little close cropped.

I often wonder what sort of songs John would be doing in concert if he were still around. I think I'll make a "John in Concert" playlist to listen to at work today.
