I do believe this video predates the one's you mentioned. But it is around the time that Devo released Whip It and the girl with the cigarette has a similar harshness to her.

I've never seen this, so thanks! It seems to me to reflect the MTV influences, specifically the robo-dolls of Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love and the Michael Jackson Thriller long-form video. But it might pre-date those?

I'd never seen this video before. Thanks for posting. I don't care for the songs but the video is really interesting. I read it as a nightmarish interpretation of what it was like for Ringo to be trapped by his fame.

Caveman was shot in Mexico in February of 1980 and this film was made in January of 1981, still 3 months or so before Ringo and Barbara wed. I state in the post that this stars Ringo's "new" wife" but during the filming they were net yet married (my error). By the time most people saw it, though...they were. I have to agree with you on the film not matching the music too well, at least not my mind's application of the music. Yet it puts Ringo in a different light that is, "interesting" to say the least.

Um, wow! What an interesting short film. The images have nothing to do with the lightweight tunes and soft production of the album. Stop is one of Ringo's absolute best works, but it isn't a serious, or scary album. The songs are gentle, comical and very G rated. I loved the sing songy nature of the album when I was a kid. The creepy video, with its reliance on bondage and severe visuals is a terribly inappropriate match for the music. Those images would have fit better, I think, with some of the more primitive techno type tunes on McCartney II (which was released only a year or so earlier.)

I agree Stop and Smell the Roses is woefully underrated. And despite these creepy images very safe to play around children.

Coincidentally, I have been listening to 10CC's masterpiece, How Dare You? all week long.

One question, was this shot before or after Caveman?
