I have to admit, it’s getting better….

a little better, all the time….

Happy Nat

Some new features:

I have recently added a few new things to the site that will hopefully enhance the user experience for at least some of the folks who are dropping in here from time to time. I thought I’d sum them up in a post in case you’re interested.

1) Related posts: At the end of each post you can see up to 4 related/semi-related posts. This is an automated feature that uses tags, keywords, categories, etc. to locate related entries. I think it will come in handy given the ever-growing number of posts on the site now. Also (and this isn’t a new feature) don’t forget the search box on the site that allows you to search on keywords, titles, etc. It’s handily sitting there for you on the right sidebar of every page on the site.

2) At the bottom of each post there is a new “Like” button. This is similar to the Like button on Facebook, or the Mog It Up button on Mog. So, if you like a post, but don’t want to take the time to comment, click the “Like” button (which looks like a thumbs up sign). There’s even one at the bottom of this post. :)

3) For those of you who like to access the web with your iPhone, Blackberry or other mobile device, TheBeatlesRarity.com is now optimized for this. Posts will be laid out in an easy-to-read single column with a readable font size and black-on-white type background so that you can read the site and comment more easily on your device. If you still prefer the original layout while using your mobile device, there is a switch at the bottom of the page (labeled Mobile Theme) that you can turn off and this will return you to the same layout you have on your Mac or PC. This will not affect the appearance of the site on non-mobile devices.

4) For those of you with Twitter accounts: On the right sidebar of any page on this site, there is now a Follow Me on Twitter! button which will send you to the BeatlesRarity Twitter page where you may choose to follow the Beatles Rarity Twitter posts (or sign up for Twitter if you don’t already have an account). The Beatles Rarity is now on Twitter as BeatlesRarity and any posts on this site will also be mirrored as Twitter Posts. Furthermore (and I think this is the slick part), if you share a link to a post on this site in a Twitter comment, it will also show up as a comment here in the originating post. This does not work for retweets (If you don’t know what retweets are and want to, consult Twitter.com.).

At the time of this writing, not all of these features have been tested, so let me know if you see anything wrong, and I’ll look into it.

All the best…

You've now surpassed the MOG format for listening to these tracks. Much appreciated.

Hi Mark. Just thought i'd let you know I stopped by to look around (again).

Drop in anytime DM....enjoy the scenery.

Thanks for the suggestions, Heather!

I just had a thought - maybe instead of "Like," it could say "This is fab!", and then "2 visitor(s) think this is fab!" ...or something.

(Oh, also, I just noticed that, on my computer, the "Leave Comment" button doesn't look like a button - it's just white text on black. I think it has a border, but it's nearly the same color as the background. At first I thought the submit button had disappeared, but eventually I figured out to click "Leave Comment." Maybe when you can get a change you can poke around in the CSS and give the button some color - the blue you have for links in the comment section is nice, or the orange of the sidebar links.)

I'm implementing the fab button idea right away!

Awesome. Much more Beatle-y!
